Research

Looking up quickly, as if coming out of a trance, Xarnagan sees the form of Dickie Dee quickly exiting the room, a lightness to his step and an excited whistle in place of the typical clacking of his protuding jaw. Looking down again at the table in front of him, he sees the silver pill and bag of credits left by the Bone Man Sorcerer. He notes that he now has two pills of Sorcerer's Silver - One from Dickie, and One from Tazar the Interlocuter that he had purchased prior to befriending the likeable lord of the Tower. He plans on using those two pills to their most prudent possibilities. With those thoughts in mind, he returns to the research materials that he has slowly begun to amass on the table in front of him.

Research Endowment

Dickie Dee brings a bag of dirty gold credits and a strange little pill to Xarnagan.
"Xarnagan, I wish to aid your research. Here are 800 gold credits and a dose of a cognitive enhancer known as Sorcerer's Silver. The Captain and I are heading out on a expedition and may not be back for several weeks. When I get back I may be able to help your research as I speak Computer."
Dickie Dee waits for Xarnagan to respond... and when it becomes apparent that he is absorbed in his research he heads out, seeking the nearest vapor lounge.

Radiation!

Xarnagan decides to return to the Hive of Sages and do more research. He decides to look into how to recharge a radiation crystal. He has also realized that he has no gold credits left, and asks of the party to fund his research. He also approaches the Hive and asks what service he could offer for research time.

Waiting

Whilst waiting around the morning after camping on the mountainside, Xarnagan learns the spell Read Magic from Dickie Dee and immediately puts it to use. He withdraws his newly found green tablet and begins to read it using his newly learned spell.

Xarnagan Vrokk

Xarnagan decides he will begin keeping an expeditionary journal of his travels. He finds it enlightens the spirit as well as the higher faculties, and feeling such makes note to purchase such supplies as needed for a minor venture of that undertaking as soon as Algol-ly possible. Doing his best to not cast angrous thought-forms at the hapless Hobab, he studies the rocks and formations he can see through the mist.

Bang Gonzo

Bang Gonzo, saddened by once again being booted from the party, drinks his last four gold credits. As he sits and sips he thinks about how he can prove his worth to his former companions. He considers picking the pockets of one or two locals
"Perhaps I could steal enough cash to buy Monster Monagin that damn pistol he wants."
He slurs the local gods when he realizes he's not had enough experience to mug a child. Then he realizes the reason he's not been in more than a half dozen fights: his so called friends never bring him along.
Bang Gonzo decides to find some work, save up his gold credits for a few years, and purchase the biggest, meanest plasma/lazer/nuclear weapon he can find. He'll need a good job, a cheap room, and lots of blueprint paper to draw up his plans.
"I'll show those bastards just how dangerous Bang can be!" He shouts aloud, startling several around him.

Response - Monster Monagin

  • Monster Monagin hears the tales of Earth Man items being sold in Jakay, the artifacts being found in the Rust Desert.
  • Monster Monagin also hears that the Sheriff of Small Dust, Vholdhaan, a portly Blue (Kerulian) Man, has an Earth Man pistol and ammuniton for sale for 2000 gold credits. Apparently it is a high quality firearm. Vholdhaan has a suite in the Governer's Manor.
  • Monster Monagin hears that Havtti the Clicking, the local Sorcerer, is offering 500 gold credits for the freshly slain carcass of a Prismatic Scorpion from the Prismatic Salt Wastes.

Response - Dickie Dee

  • Dickie Dee and Monster Monagin come across Maggot Mort and Rodan the Scrounger in the Small Dust marketplace, Maggot Mort is haggling with an intoxicant merchant.
  • Maggot Mort offers Rodan the Scrounger and Monster Monagin 5 gold each to keep watch while he partakes in intoxicants.
  • Determin between yourself and Sean what drugs you purchase in what quantity.
  • Maggot Mort and Dickie Dee purchase the intoxicants, go to one of the inn, and go on a bender. Regardless of whether there are guards or not, there are no incidents.
  • The next day Dickie Dee visits the local Sorcerer, Havtti the Clicking, a Bronze (Dhazzi) Man of advanced age. He seems distracted and possibly senile, and rambles on about his research into the arthropods of the Prismatic Salt Wastes.
  • He says that he has all of the spells you are looking for, aside from Enlarge, in his spellbook. He will allow you to copy them into your spellbook at the cost of 300 gold credits per spell. He will also let you copy two spells into your spellbook in exchange for the freshly slain carcass of a Prismatic Scorpion from the Prismatic Salt Wastes.
  • He claims to not have access to any rituals, and seems disturbed by your interest.
  • What is Dickie Dee's Charisma score?

Monster Monagin

Monster Monagin wants a pistol, rifle, shotgun, harpoon gun, or some other sort of projectile weapon, and he wants one BAD. He'll do almost anything to get one. If he can't afford it, he'll do what he can to make some money. If he can't make enough gold credits to purchase one, he'll consider trying to steal it. If he can't think of a feasible way to do this he'll work on saving his credits and looking for work.

Dickie Dee

Dickie searches out his junkie buddy Mort and goes halfers on a drug bender with Mort as far as Mort is willing to go. He's also interested in furthering his knowledge of the arcane. Specifically he wants to research rituals as well as perhaps learning the first level spells Burning Hands, Identify, Enlarge, Feather Fall and Friends.

Response - Maggot Mort

  • Eibon Matter is available, 50 gold credits for a "lump."
  • Ocher Lotus Nectar is also available, it is said to have energizing and exhilirating effects, 25 gold credits for a "packet."
  • An offer is made of both a lump and a packet for a 65 gold credit deal.
  • The only regional specialty he knows of are various intoxicating prismatic salts, but he is unable to find any vendors.
  • The rooms at "The Red Beak," located in the remote end of town, are said to be secure and private. A comfortable, roomy, single story traveler's inn. 2 gold credits for a private room for the night, 10 silver for meals.
  • There is also a shabby, rough inn next to the Caravan Grounds, "The Iron Lizard," a room is 10 silver pieces, 16 with meals.
  • While looking for intoxicants he is separated from the party. He can find Rodan, but the others are currently unavailable.

Response - Rodan the Scrounger

  • As the party rides into town on their orniths, Rodan believes he notices subtle, suspicious stares from some of the townsfolk.
  • He separates from the party in order to seek out rumors of technological items.
  • He does hear that a Laser Pistol is for sail in Pit, but the sellers are willing to travel to Small Dust to sell it, for 1200 gold credits total.
  • He also hears that Earth Man items have been turning up in Jakay.
  • Afterwards he crosses paths with Maggot Mort.

Maggot Mort

Maggot Mort will seek out any intoxicants he can find and if Dickie Dee is game will split them with the Bone Man. He'll try to find a halfway safe place to indulge in whatever he can find. He'll pay the others 5 GP each to keep six on his drug-den. His primary interest is in procuring any regional specialties that he could smuggle into Agog or Jakay that might make him some credits. Of course he'll end up using most of his supply, but that's an acceptable price for the mutant addict.

Rodan the Scrounger

Rodan the Scrounger casts a watchful gaze around Little Dust, anxiously feeling the stares of the locals. His wild Zhermish instincts warn him that something is untowards and perhaps his present company has attracted too much attention. He keeps both his hood and his guard up, and assumes a low profile. He'll subtly insinuate himself into earshot of any traffickers of arms, listening for rumors of Earth Man weapons, or weapons of the Ancients.

Explanation...

Hey Guys, I created this blog in order to facilitate "play-by-post" for the Planet Algol Campaign. For now, we can use it in order for shopping, research, short distance travel over known routes, npc hassling, etc.

Just make a post, with the character's name as the title (i.e. as "Explanation..." is the title of this post) and describing what you would like that character to do, as below:

Gorice

Gorice would like to solicite the most attractive maid in the castle for a handjob. He also wants to buy all the healing potions in town, and hire four experienced cuttthroats.

"Ho Milo, you seek out a realtor and inquire about secure beachfront villas"

One other thing I would like to use this blog for is to allow absentee players with internet access a way of participating.
